Warkworth Birthing Centre opened in February 2000. It is situated in quiet surroundings on a hill above the town and has a quiet, homely atmosphere.
Full birthing facilities are available for normal births and a pool is available for labour and birth. Your LMC Midwife provides your labour and birth care with a second Midwife coming in to assist at the birth. After the birth of your baby and until you go home, there are Registered Midwives and Registered Nurses on staff to provide care for you and your baby. Your LMC Midwife will visit or call you daily while you are at the Centre. They will also provide your post-natal care at home after you discharge from the Birthing Centre.
We offer full postnatal stays after birthing at hospital or home, subject to bed availability on the day. To register your interest in staying with us, please speak to your LMC.
A Partner/Support Person is welcome to stay at the Centre with Mum and Baby for the whole duration.
Parents are recommended to have a maximum of four well visitors a day. Visitors are welcome to visit between 3pm and 6pm.
Tours for expectant parents can be arranged by phoning the Centre on the morning of the day of the planned visit and arranging a suitable time.
We hope you will consider coming to Warkworth for your birth and postnatal stay.
